Inspired by the stone masonry of central Prague, the gothic sculptures of Vienna and Austria's challenging radio arts culture, Creating Regions evokes mourning for European cultures in decay and the dawn of an international community of arts activism. Originally performed for the netcast commissioned by KunstRadio from Melbourne to DocumentaX, Germany, 1997.
The opening track, t0, was conceived in respect for the Vienna based multimedia centre, Public Netbase t0. It was here that Garton was to first hear of Pansonic, the now infamous MEGO label and how positively people in some parts of Europe had been responding to minimalist electronica, which at that time was nearly impossible to commodify let alone define.
Much of Creating Regions was originally performed for a netcast commissioned from Andrew Garton (aka Lost Time Accident), by KunstRadio. The pieces were performed live from Toy Satellite, Melbourne to DocumentaX, Germany, mid-1997.
This album is a dark and brooding compilation of pieces, colliding engineered and improvisatory techniques towards audible regions that would otherwise remain unheard.
